Tom Williams

A back injury led Tom Williams to an acupuncturist thirty years ago. Tom was impressed with the result, and he wanted to help other people heal without unnecessary surgery or harmful drugs. He pursued a post-baccalaureate degree from the Southwest Acupuncture College of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and established his first clinic in Eugene in 1987.

At the Turning Point Center, Tom specializes in the treatment of chronic pain and stress-related illnesses. He has studied extensively with acupuncture masters from Japan and Taiwan, including Kiiko Matsumoto and Dr. Richard Tan.

Tom is licensed to practice acupuncture by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners and is a Diplomate of the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He is also a member of the Oregon Acupuncture Association and a former board member of the Pain Society of Oregon, a multidisciplinary organization dedicated to the ethical and effective management of chronic pain.

Tom is a member of the Foundation for Wellness Professionals, a national, non-profit association of professional healthcare speakers. Members volunteer to deliver educational workshops on health-related topics. Tom has given numerous workshops on trigger point massage and has lectured on the effectiveness of acupuncture for the treatment of chronic pain, fibromyalgia, smoking cessation, and carpal tunnel syndrome at the University of Oregon, Lane Community College, Symantec Corporation, Eugene Hilton, and Eugene Public Library.
